Bolsa de Estudo para o ISER

" ESRC QUOTA STUDENTSHIPS AT INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC RESEARCH


The Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at
the University of Essex has 17 ESRC '1+3' and '+3'
postgraduate studentship quota awards to make in the two
forthcoming academic years. These studentships cover fees
plus a stipend for the period of the Masters course and/or 3
years of a PhD programme. (The stipend has been increased
by £3000 over and above the usual amount.) Full ESRC awards
are available to UK students; students from non-UK EU
countries are eligible for a fees-only award.

The '1+3' awards will be spread over 2 programmes:
1) MA Sociology and Panel Data Analysis, plus 3 years PhD
work (programme co-taught with the Department of Sociology);
2) MSc in Applied Economics and Data Analysis, plus 3 years
PhD work (programme co-taught with the Department of
Economics).

These schemes provide advanced training in sociology and
applied economics and in the techniques of data analysis,
including analysis of longitudinal or panel data.
Applicants should have (or be expecting to achieve) a good
2.1 degree or above in Sociology, Economics or a
related discipline.

The '+3' awards are for applicants already holding a
Master's degree of suitable standard. PhD research topics
can be in any of the current research fields at ISER, which
include social mobility within and between generations;
labour market dynamics; income and wealth; time use;
microsimulation of taxes and benefits; household formation
and dissolution; longitudinal and panel data methods;
applied econometrics and survey methods.
